GAI (State Auto Inspection) will consider absence of winter tires in road accidents during the winter period as an aggravating circumstance. Igor Vanitskiy, the deputy chief of the Department of GAI has reported that there are some new traffic regulations concerning installing winter tires. He noted that so far all changes in traffic regulations are recommendatory, not obligatory. Nevertheless, in case of personal injuries and deaths of people in road accidents traffic police will take into consideration whether winter tires are installed or not. So, guilty drivers will be punished.
