In January-March this year, the Minsk Motor Works sold 35655 diesel engines, or 13.3% up over the same period last year, BelTA learnt in OOO Business Contacts Agency. In Q1, the production volume of the plant hit Br242.3 billion, or 23% up over the same period 2007. In the period under review, the export of the company upped by 60% as against January-March 2007. According to specialists, the plant settled the technical, production and sales problems dealing with the Euro-3 ecological standards which have been introduced by the Russian Federation since January 1, 2008. At the same time, according to deputy director general of the Minsk Motor Works Viktor Martinkevich, this year the plant had some problems. For instance, in early 2008, the plant lacked of imported fuel-delivery systems Common Rail type due to the fault of a supplier. Minsk Motor Works was founded in 1962. The company employs over 5,600 people now. The company offers three basic models of four and six-cylinder diesel engines in 44 modifications with the capacity ranging from 60 to 350 hp. Every month the company makes over 10 thousand engines. The company ships its make to 42 conveyors of Belarusian and CIS mechanical engineering companies, which manufacture various machines — automobiles, tractors, road construction machines, power generators. The company also uses manufacturing cooperation schemes with 87 Russian companies. The latter supply Minsk Motor Works with fuel system parts, valve gear and other components for MMZ engines. |
