The Belarusian-Chinese student competitions in football and basketball timed to the Olympic Games in China took place in Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU). Charge d’Affaires ad Hog of China to Belarus Jiang Xiaoyang told at an opening ceremony that this student initiative demonstrates friendship between the youth of the two countries and willingness to learn more about the forthcoming Olympic Games.

The opening ceremony of the Belarusian-Chinese student competitions turned to be a real show. The event was preceded by an exhibition of the Olympic symbolism in the form of souvenirs and toys. Then the sports hall heard the songs in Chinese performed by Chinese and Belarusian students.

The number of goals is not essential at such friendly meetings, Mr. Jiang Xiaoyang told BelTA. The main thing is the friendship between the Belarusian and Chinese youth who find much common interests, learn about the culture and traditions of the two countries. Over 1,000 students from China receive education in Belarus.

On the same day, Belarusian National Technical University opened two photo-exhibitions: Olympics in Beijing and Sports Unites Us.
