A park named after Simon Bolivar, the national hero of Venezuela, was established in Minsk. A solemn ceremony dedicated to the opening of the memorial plate to the hero will be held there on July 7, Head of the Venezuelan diplomatic mission to Belarus Americo Diaz Nunez said at the press conference in Minsk on the occasion of the Independence Day of Venezuela, which is marked on July 5. “The Minsk City Council complied with our request to name the park after Simon Bolivar, the hero –liberator of the six countries of South America,” the diplomat said. He gave a positive estimate of the cultural cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela which pertains to the establishment of the friendship society that functions within the framework of the Belarusian society of friendship and cultural links with foreign countries. The society participates in the Days of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Belarus that is held in June. One of the most interesting cultural events of the Days was the presentation of the national cuisine of this country. In 2008, the representatives of the Venezuelan culture visited Belarus three times, among them conductor of the Venezuelan orchestra Angelo Pogliuca who conducted the symphonic orchestra of the Belarusian television and radio company.
