The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus has put forward an initiative to hold an action 'A day without car' next year. Zhanna Troyno, the chief of the department of agitation and propaganda of GAI (State Auto Inspection) of Minsk City Executive Committee, has informed that 512 thousand private vehicles and 70 thousand non-private vehicles are registered in Minsk. The specialist believes if only half of all the drivers refuse to drive at least for one day it will help to reduce the number of accidents and to improve ecological situation. At the same time, employees of transport services should be prepared for an increased number of people using public transport.
